The Trouble with Vaccines…and what you can do about it

An argument is raging across this country, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Parents and grandparents are up in arms fighting with each other, their friends, doctors, and even legislators. It’s a subject so controversial for some that it eclipses our recent elections, our economy, and the healthcare debate itself. What is this new “third rail?” Vaccine safety and increasing adverse reactions in children. Medical doctors are increasingly being confronted with parents who want to diverge from the recommended vaccine protocol, asking to vaccinate selectively (or sometimes not at all). They’re asking – How do I know for sure that they’re safe for my child? Is my child at high risk of having a bad reaction? How often should we administer vaccines? Can we space them out? How MANY vaccines are really necessary? Should we vaccinate at all? Are there alternatives? Are we doing more harm...

Is Vaccination the Only Form of Immunization?

To date, vaccine marketing has instructed us that vaccination is the only method of immunization we have. There IS another choice. Consider a different method of Immunization We are all in agreement that keeping our children healthy is the top priority. True health is not just a matter of producing antibodies to specific diseases. If this were the case we wouldn’t be seeing outbreaks of diseases such as mumps or pertussis in fully vaccinated populations. True health is a multi-faceted process. It includes sometimes getting sick.  Exposure to microbes teaches the immune system to recognize and mount an appropriate response to bacteria and viruses.  Microbes are all around us, inside of us and on our skin. Disease is not separate from us. The complex task of keeping these microbes in balance begins on the first day of life. It happens by contact with life itself! Inoculating against specific germs by...

Immunity Through the Ages

Immunity through the Ages: Our human immune system is quite amazing. Think of the intelligence it reflects. Day in and day out it offers protection from viruses, bacteria, parasites, and errant rogue cancer cells. It creates a balance within our biological economy of knowing when to mount a response with fever, inflammation, or discharges, and when to simply do its work silently. Our human immune system is quite amazing. Think of the intelligence it reflects. Day in and day out it offers protection from viruses, bacteria, parasites, and errant rogue cancer cells. It creates a balance within our biological economy of knowing when to mount a response with fever, inflammation, or discharges, and when to simply do its work silently. Another, more metaphysical way to view the immune system is as an overarching ability to accurately determine what is “self” and what is “not self.”  There is no distinction inside...

What’s in a tetanus shot?

Many WWC clients come to us with questions about what to do when they are in the doctor’s office or the hospital and the staff recommend the tetanus shot. There is no ‘tetanus only’ vaccine available in the United States. When you are offered a ‘tetanus shot’ in an ER or by the doctor, they will administer either the DTaP or TDaP, depending on the age of the patient; a 3-in-1 cocktail vaccine consisting of Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (whooping cough) bacteria, and up to 625 mcg of aluminum. As a strategy, when the tetanus shot is recommended for you or your child, please consider the following actions: Ask for (demand) the complete vaccine package insert for the DTaP/TDaP. Point out the ingredients, especially the aluminum. Point out the multiple adverse reactions that could potentially happen if they inject this vaccine. Point out that the nurse, doctor, nor hospital can be held liable...

Is all disease bad?

Disease is a very hot topic these days Television ads abound with descriptions of scary symptoms, the 6 o’clock news rings out with warnings about the latest epidemic, and every corner pharmacy and the grocery store is offering flu shots, shingles, and pneumonia vaccines with added incentives of 20% off your purchase. We can always take a pill for suppressing or a shot in hopes avoiding the uncomfortable symptoms, but is that the most beneficial choice? We should learn all we can about each disease and weigh the risks versus the benefits of each. Health is “adaptation,” and this process reflects adaptation by getting sick and getting well, getting sick and getting well, again and again, each time maturing the developing immune system. In comparison, a dysregulated immune system easily gets stuck. Just like a car with its wheels stuck in the snow, the system spins and spins, unable to move through these...
